Garfield Park Conservatory Engagement

You don’t have to ask me twice to head to Garfield Park Conservatory – my happy place – for an engagement shoot! The Garfield Park Conservatory was designed as the centerpiece of the three Westside parks—Humboldt, Garfield and Douglas. It was built in 1908.

That’s where we photographed Rachel and Joshua, and it was an absolute dream session in every way. We headed to the Conservatory at around noon. Normally in Chicago is very cold during this time of the year so we all decided that Garfield Park Conservatory is the best place for indoor engagement session… and it was!!

I asked the couple what attracted them to this place and the answer was:

It is difficult to take engagement photos during Chicago winters. We love the outdoors and wanted greenery in our photos. Our future sister-in-law recommended Garfield Park Conservatory and it looked beautiful! We had to work around other people there – but it was a beautiful day!

Love story at Garfield Conservatory

Rachel wore the most beautiful floral printed dress that she look absolutely incredible in, and Joshua opted for a casual grey sweater and navy blue shirt, which blended into the beach scenery perfectly!

Here are some other questions we asked the couple:

How did you two meet? We met rock climbing at The Red River Gorge in Kentucky!

How did the proposal go? On a return trip to the Red River Gorge I (Josh) proposed in an area that we had visited on our very first trip together.

Tell me about the details you’re most excited about for your upcoming wedding! Why did you choose these locations? We are getting married at Independence Grove which is a beautiful nature preserve. We are so excited to be able to be outside on our wedding day.

What kind of look were you going for? Outdoorsy and elegant.

What was your favorite part of the e-session? Strolling around Garfield Park Conservatory was a lot of fun! It is so beautiful, and it was nice to spend the day with each other.
