Arun and Denise – Surprise Proposal in Chicago

We meet again, dear blog readers!

I recently photographed Arun and Denise at Adler Planetarium and some other beautiful places in the city of Chicago. This soon-to-be wedded couple will be getting married in 2019. Arun called a few weeks ago and told me about planning to propose Denise. We worked together and planned the photo session for the day as he had some arrangements at Shedd Aquarium to take photos of the proposal moment.  This was perfect since it is Denise’s favorite view of the city. I  met them at Adler Planetarium to capture this joyous moment followed by their engagement session around downtown.

Here is how they met and how Arun proposed: 

“We met each other on a dating app and immediately hit it off. With Denise living in Chicago and Arun in Miami, our relationship has been compiled with numerous trips to see each other. We both share the love for traveling to new cities with detailed itineraries full of random adventures, activities, and sightseeing. It was through these trips that we learned that our quirky, nerdy personalities synced perfectly and we grew closer together.

Denise – Our proposal had just happened minutes before this photo shoot. We were having a casual day in Chicago visiting the Shedd Aquarium when Arun had surprised me with tickets for a Beluga whale encounter experience. I was so excited but did not over think it since it is in his character to do these things on our dates. Little did I know he had an evening planned with surprises for me. During the encounter, the trainer had me throw a box into the water and Naya, the whale, brought it back to me to open and see the ring.As we left the aquarium, we met with our family and friends at museum campus. This was perfect since it is Denise’s favorite view of the city. Doru had also met us here to capture this joyous moment followed by our engagement session around downtown. Our photo session was a fun experience and Doru was a pleasure to work with. We were both new to professional photography and he made sure to make us feel at ease with simple instructions. He also made sure to capture our candid moments and incorporate poses/gestures that came naturally to us.
Our advice to other couples would be to relax, be yourselves, and have fun so that your chemistry is seen in every picture.
We are excited about all the wedding festivities to come and see what the future has in store for us in our journey in life together!
