Lauren & Mike – Urban Engagement Session Chicago

Bright lights, towering buildings, and the buzz of city life – that’s what we had in store for Lauren and Mike’s vibrant urban engagement session a couple weeks ago. We hit the bustling streets of Chicago along the windy shores of Lake Michigan and we are so excited that we were able to use Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain and Adler Planetarium as a backdrop, along with Chicago Skyline view from the Planetarium area!

We’ll mix images from the engagement session with their story!

  • How they met

“We both were on a dating app and matched with each other. After talking a little we subsequently figured out that we lived directly across the hall from each other in the same building of the same apartment complex! We hung out a few times and within a few weeks, we were inseparable! The rest is history.”

These two were full of energy, and I love that they wore beautiful outfits. We were amazed on Lauren endurance to walk around the city with her high hills shoes. It was the perfect complement to the colorful, electric city backgrounds we were working with throughout the shoot.

  • Tips or advice for other couples about to have engagement photos taken? “Ladies, if you’re going to wear heels, BRING FLIP FLOPS OR FLATS! Doru and Claudia reminded me to bring them and I still forgot! lol I ended the day with only a few blisters, but felt I held up the pack a little moving from location to location. Don’t bring too many things with you, either. Otherwise, just have fun with it! ” said Lauren.

  • How did the proposal go?

“Mike took me to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, FL during a week’s getaway. It was a beautiful mansion on the waterfront with amazing views. We walked down a path and into a secluded gazebo overlooking the mansion and ocean. I turned around to find Mike on one knee holding out my engagement ring and starting jumping around and screaming like a goof! People were clapping in the distance as I said yes and hugged him! The manager came around the corner with a bottle of champagne and two glasses and brought us to a private deck where we were able to relax and soak in what just happened. It was beautiful, perfect, completely original, and very thoughtful all on Mike’s part.”
  • Where are you getting married and where is the reception? Why did you choose these locations?
We are getting married at Lover’s Key State Park on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Both reception and ceremony will be held on the beach because it’s what has brought us together. We both moved to Florida from up North, we love the beauty of the ocean, and we love the relaxed, carefree feel that it will give our wedding guests!
  • How was your overall session experience?
“Amazing is an understatement! Doru and Claudia are THE BEST! They made the experience so much fun, they always make sure you’re comfortable and that they’re getting the best shots they can, and they’re great friends with our family and us, ever since they photographed my aunt and uncle’s wedding. They are fabulous photographers, wonderful people, and their work speaks for itself! “
Just look at that chemistry! These two are going to be so much fun to photograph on their wedding day in November next year! We can’t wait!!
