Michelle and Dan Engagement Photos in Geneva IL

We meet again, wonderful blog readers!

I recently photographed Michelle and Dan at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva IL. This soon-to-be wedded couple will be getting married in June 2019. I am very excited to capture their big day!!

I so love their story and I will be present it as Q and A:

How did you two meet?

Dan and I Met when we both worked at the same restaurant during our high school and college years. I always knew Dan had a crush on me and I was consistently teased by co-workers to go on a date with him. Little did he know I had a crush too. We started off as really close friends in the beginning until we started spending a majority of our time together. From there, the rest is history!

How did the proposal go?

Our proposal was amazing and full of surprises! Dan kept bugging me to leave work early on a Friday so that we could grab dinner and drinks on the patio of Meson Sabika. When we got there, Dan guided me to walk through their garden before we went inside (he claimed they weren’t open yet). We sat down on a bench in the middle of the garden and that’s when he got down on one knee to pop the question. There were a few other families watching from a far and cheered when I said yes. After our proposal, both of our families arrived and we had celebratory drinks. Dan then told me he had one more surprise and we flew off to New York City for the weekend (I’ve always talked about wanting to go!). We spent the entire time exploring the city and taking endless amounts of pictures. It was the most romantic weekend!

Why did you decide on this location for your e-shoot?

Since our wedding venue is modern, we wanted a bit of a rustic feel for our engagement pictures. I started to research forest preserves/parks in the area and fell in love with the Japanese Garden at Fabyan Park. The entire property was beautiful with all of the tall trees, greenery, and flowers. It was also the perfect place to bring our dog, Myley, and get her involved in our pictures.

What makes you the most excited about for your upcoming wedding?

Dan and I are most excited about our wedding venue. Our reception is being held at Elements in Hotel Indigo Downtown Naperville. We thought it was the perfect location and really loved the modern feel. We would frequently sit outside at the wine bar located on the opposite end of the hotel and say this would be a great spot for a wedding.

What did you each wear to your engagement session?

I picked out my entire outfit all around my favorite pair of shoes. Although it was a bit tough walking around the park in heels, it was worth it! We both decided we wanted to take more of a casual approach in terms of dress. I decided to wear jeans and an off the shoulder top and Dan wore jeans and a polo. We both wanted to be and feel comfortable throughout our shoot.

Do you have any tips or advice for other couples about to have engagement photos taken?

Bring your pets! Bringing our dog, Myley, made our session special and so much fun. All of our family and friends know how important our furry child is to us, so it was great to be able to incorporate her into these pictures.

What was your favorite part of the e-session?

It is so difficult to pick a favorite when he loved the entire session. Once again, I will say having Myley involved in our pictures our favorite part. Doru tried to incorporate her in many pictures and we feel we took a lot of candid shots.

How was your overall session experience?

Dan and I had a BLAST during our session – Doru made our experience so enjoyable. He was very creative with picture location, poses, etc. He made sure we were always comfortable and adjusting us to make sure the photos looked perfect. Doru shot my sister’s wedding and the pictures turned out absolutely beautiful. This session made Dan and I so excited to take our wedding photos!

As I said, I can’t wait to capture their wedding photos!!
