The Photography Journey to Dorothy & Abbe’s “Trash the Dress” Photo Session

A “Trash the Dress” photo session certainly is beautiful!

As photographers, we truly enjoy getting the opportunity to get to know the special people we meet. We get to learn more about who they are, share in their intimate moments, and grow together; they certainly are experiences to cherish.

Having an impact on someone’s life through photography is a feeling unlike any other! In fact, there is a couple that comes to mind whenever we think about the experiences we have had with our clients, and that would be the lovely pair of Dorothy and Abbe.

Dorothy and Abbe have created some of our favorite photography memories, as we have had the wonderful opportunity to capture many of their milestones in life. They have been such a huge part of our growth as photographers, which is why we are thrilled to share some of the details with you! If you would like to take a look at their photography journey, be sure to continue reading:

  • Popping the Question. In the spring of 2013, we first met Dorothy and Abbe. After saying “Yes!” when the question was popped, this elated couple hired us to capture their engagement photos. For their photo session, we explored the waterfront, the amazing architecture of the city, and the local flair that Chicago presents. The couple was able to embrace their new relationship status proudly by utilizing the lovely elements of Chicago as the backdrop for their photos.
  • Tying the Knot. Next, it was time to for the happy couple to tie the knot, which we were so honored to capture! In the summer of 2013, the beautiful duo hosted an intimate wedding where only the most important people attended. The lush natural setting created a flawless look for their nuptials and their photos.
  • Becoming a Family. Soon enough, this lovely duo was on their way to turning into a trio, as it was time to announce their pregnancy! Not only did we see how much their love had grown, but watched them share a love for something even more incredible, their child. This was certainly an emotional photo session that we were so honored to be a part of.
  • Welcoming Baby Dorian. We were amazed, once again, to see the love between this couple had grown again. And, now we were able to see the outcome of their love, baby Dorian. It was an honor capturing photos of this beautiful boy, as there is certainly no greater gift in this world than the gift of a child.
  • Continuing the Family Love. To this day, Dorothy and Abbe have continued to book annual family photo sessions, as a way to capture their family’s growth each and every year. This has allowed us to be a part of their lives, and watch baby Dorian grow. It certainly has been a wonderful experience to take part in, as we look forward to preserving their memories every year.
  • Their Five-Year Milestone. With great joy, we are happy to share that Dorothy and Abbe have celebrated their five-year anniversary. And, we are incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to capture it!
    • Memories to Cherish. First, the couple chose to sit along the riverbank of the Fox River and open up their treasure chest guest book from their wedding. They read the messages from their guests, which allowed us to capture photos full of emotion, as the words they read among the notes were incredibly heartfelt.
    • A Stroll Through the Water. Next, they chose to utilize the river as a way to “Trash the Dress”. From wading in the water to taking a stroll through the current, Dorothy and Abbe held hands as they expressed their love for one another.
    • A Colorful Celebration. To add even more fun to their photos, and some color, the lovely couple chose to incorporate festive smoke bombs into their images. What a way to celebrate! Clouds of colorful smoke, from blue to yellow, filled the air as they embraced their excitement for their five-year anniversary.

Dorothy and Abbe’s journey in life has been a true honor to capture! And, we look forward to the many more opportunities to preserve their memories. After all, we are proud to be such a huge part of life with our many wonderful clients, from photographing weddings to capturing portraits.
