Wedding in Romania

Romanian Wedding    –   Smaranda and Ionut

As wedding photographers we traveled to Romania to photograph newly weds Smaranda and Ionut in their hometown. We have travel all over and love to take wedding photos in Europe during the summer because of its diverse landscape and beautiful weather. The wedding took place in Northern Romania in a county called Suceava. Doru was with Smaranda while she was getting her make up done by professional make up artist Andreea Lucan. She did an excellent job for Smaranda as the make up was fresh all wedding day!

On the other side of town, Claudia was with the groom Ionut at the Conacul Domnesc and his groomsmen. Both Smaranda and Ionut are doctors and had many of their professional friends attend their wedding. The big wedding was celebrated through Christian orthodox traditions and the children who attended wore white with red ribbon or flowers attached to their clothes.

The church itself had special paintings all along the walls and was covered in centuries worth of history. The wedding ceremony was very traditional with 6 priests attending the wedding. Each priest wore traditional long white cloaks accented with red crosses. When the bride and groom exchanged wedding rings, the priests blessed them and placed golden crowns around their heads. Many of the attendees were standing during the ceremony and were glad to see the couple united under God.

After the ceremony, we took the couple to a historic monastery that was built in 1602 and captured some lovely wedding photos in this part of Europe. Both the groomsmen and bridesmaids joined the newlywed couple at the monastery as the rest of the guests left to attend the bridal party. The weather outside was perfect for an outdoor photo session and we as photographers took advantage of the natural light.

When the couple arrived to the party two small printed signs were placed at the back of their seats that said, “I’m her Mr.” and  “I’m his Mrs.” The cake was nicely decorated and football themed as Ionut is a huge fan of the sport. He jokingly mentioned that it was unfortunate he would be missing Quarter-finals of the football games at the World Cup Brazil because it landed  on the same date as his wedding.

The father of the bride, Dr. Ieremia did open the reception with an emotional speech!

The live band Chorus played fantastic music and then DJ Dan Zlei kept the guest busy and helped with sound and lights 3 dance teams that performed on the night.

A great impression was made by the  dancing national championship Andrei Palamariu and Ancuta Dumitrean.

Great surprise it was the bride’s niece! She did perform few songs as a gift to her dearly aunt!!

The sweet table was nicely set with wine and cupcakes. There were photos of the married couple together throughout the dessert table and there was a lot of dancing and partying up until 5 in the morning.
